We set out to tell the tale of the brave people who took up their belongings and set out over the wild expanses of unknown territory in search of a better life. Even though the setting is America, their story is not uniquely American, their spirit is in all human beings. PIONEERS is a mixed media project combining spoken word and music. We wanted to tell their story in a unique way. The music spans all types of American music. PIONEERS is Emily Mathews, Mathew Wojciechowski, and myself. Also on the recordings are Clarin McDonald and Clint Borka. PIONEERS is completely from our hearts and is free of bullshit. We wanted to make genuine American music, that is not just a remake of the O’Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack, or copying Dylan.
